PARIS (Reuters):Segolene Royal pledged a new style of leadership yesterday after her sweeping victory in the Socialist presidential primary took her a step closer to becoming the country's first woman president.

'Dutch troops abused Iraqi prisoners'

THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP):Dutch military interrogators abused dozens of Iraqi prisoners in 2003, dousing them with water to keep them awake and exposing them to high-pitched noises and strong lights, a Dutch newspaper reported yesterday.


Gov't to ban junk food ads aimed at kids

LONDON (Reuters):Britain moved to ban ads for junk food during children's television programming, taking one of the toughest stances in Europe in the fight against increasing childhood obesity.
