The Editor, Sir:
Our intellectual social scientists in Jamaica should take a leaf out of Grants Pen's book, a once-violent area now calm, with not a murder committed since the beginning of this year.
The people need recognition and that is being done in Grants Pen. There is a new police station that truly serves the needs of the people. They can sit and reason with the officers who will listen to their complaints and reason with them, walk in the community, say good morning and how are you, sir.
Mr. Editor, this is respect for the people as done in Mona Heights and other rich intellectual areas. As soon as the poor people of this country are being recognised with respect by the government and its agencies, especially the justice system, then there will be less crime and murder.
People need jobs instead of millions of dollars going down the corruption drainpipe to enrich some, while others starve. Is it that our social scientists are hypocrites and fail to speak the truth?
I am, etc.,
