St. Elizabeth wicketkeeper/batsman Shane Powell was in sparkling form on yesterday's fourth and final day of Jamaica's second trial match at Elleston Road.
Playing for Tamar Lambert's XI, the right-handed Powell scored 149 to help his team to 304-5, batting a second time after they had scored 243 in their first innings.
Breese's XI made 346 in their lone innings.
In his five-hour stay at the crease, Powell struck 15 fours and four sixes off 219 deliveries and added 115 for the fourth wicket with Lorenzo Ingram who got 49.
He was happy to be among the runs in his first series of trial matches.
"I am pretty pleased with the way I am batting right now, I'm comfortable at the crease and playing my shots. It was very easy," he said.
Though he scored big yesterday, he believes a lot more is required if he is to get selected ahead of Carlton Baugh Jr., the Windies and Melbourne Club player.
"It's hard knowing that you have Baugh who is the wicketkeeper, a West Indies player, but if I continue to make runs, I definitely will get a chance," added Powell, who took left-arm spinner Dennis Bulli to task in the latter overs.
"I just have to keep on making runs and see what happens from there," added Powell, who took some 30 runs off two of Bulli's overs.
Dwight Washington was the best bowler with 3-42.
