Beyoncé Knowles has hinted lover Jay-Z is not ready to get married. The singer and actress, who was rumoured to be tying the knot with the rapper in the Caribbean last weekend, has revealed her frustration with men who are afraid of commitment.

She told In Style magazine: "You can't rush a man into anything - whether it's a relationship, marriage or having children. When he is ready, he will let you know."

No extravagant plans

The 25-year-old star also rubbished rumours she is planning an extravagant wedding ceremony and says she dreams of having her nuptials on a desert island.

Beyoncé said: "I was never one of those girls who dreamed of a big wedding.

"Maybe me and my man will go away to an island. I have no idea.

"The rumours about us having a US$3 million ceremony in Anguilla, it looks like a nice wedding, very expensive! Unfortunately, it is not true."

Beyoncé insists she has high expectations of marriage because her parents are still together, but she is confident her relationship with Jay-Z will survive because they are such good friends.

She added: "My parents have been married for 27 years, and they're still in love. That's a great example for me. I know it's possible.

"It's wonderful to understand and want the same things, but the friendship is most important.

"You know someone loves you by the way he treats you and respects you. You know it by how you both feel when you're together."
