... No fogging in Church Pen
published: Monday | December 18, 2006

SPANISH TOWN, St. Catherine:

Despite two confirmed cases of malaria in the Church Pen community near Old Harbour, St. Catherine, no fogging has been conducted there.

According to Councillor Gerval Weir, the problem has caused the residents to be worrying that the disease might be spreading, as they are not getting the necessary attention.

"With so many flat, swampy, cane land where water has settled, there is primary breeding ground for mosquitoes," Mr. Weir said.

A meeting is to be convened with the Mayor of Spanish Town, Dr. Andrew Wheatley, and personnel from the health department to deal with the matter.
