A mother's pain
published: Tuesday | December 19, 2006

The Editor, Sir:

How many more of our young men are we going to lose before somebody does something about the stretch of road between the Blue Cross building and the traffic light at the intersection of Hope Road and Lady Musgrave. We have lost three so far between June and December. One of these young men is my son.

I have heard all sorts of versions as to what happened on that fateful morning of June 24, 2006, I was not there, but I know for certain that my son was not a reckless person and the fact that he had a five-day-old son in the hospital to go home the next day, makes me even more certain that he would not be doing anything irresponsible.

Cannot be explained

All I am asking is that somebody do something about the lighting and the surface of that busy road before we lose any more. I would like to offer my sincere sympathy to all the mothers who have lost a child. The pain cannot be explained, only a mother can feel it. All we can do is continue to ask the Lord to help us to trust him even when we don't understand.

I am, etc.,
