The Editor, Sir:
The column by Peter Espeut regarding Christmas was about
as wrong-headed as it could
have been about Seventh-day Adventists.
I have been Adventist since 1968, and we have always celebrated Christmas, often with a special celebration on the sabbath nearest December 25. Like others, we know that Christ wasn't born on December 25, but we enjoy the celebration along with the rest of Christendom.
Nonsense
He also says that we are tied to the Old Testament law. Nonsense. We honour what God honours. It's just that simple.
I hope he has the courtesy to print some sort of retraction. True, Jehovah's Witnesses do not celebrate Christmas, but Seventh-day Adventists certainly do.
I am, etc.,
