HAITI - Wyclef designated ambassador
published: Friday | January 5, 2007

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (CMC):

Haiti's Foreign Affairs Minister said on Wednesday that President René Préval has designated Haitian-born hip hop star Wyclef Jean to be Haiti's roving ambassador.

Renald Clerisme said Jean will be given special assignments and will be travelling around the world to promote the country and seek economic opportunities for the impoverished Caribbean country.

"President Preval has chosen Wyclef as Haiti's roving ambassador," said Clerisme. "Because he is our best asset to promote the country's image around the world and to help attract foreign investors," Clerisme said on Wednesday.
