We have to make efforts
published: Friday | January 12, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

Mr. Chuck's article in The Gleaner outlined exactly what I have been thinking these past months. We have a so-called Prime Minister that hasn't said or, as it appears, doesn't intend to do anything about the problems facing my beautiful country.

We need a whole new bunch of bright unbiased minds to step forward and treat all Jamaicans equally, regardless of party affiliation. We need to start immediately with our young, making sure every one of them stays in school.

Government should make it mandatory for children to remain in school. If parents can't afford it, government should pick up the cost. Beef up surveillance on containers, fishermen all over our fishing ports. We have to make concerted efforts to find out where these guns are coming from.

Our Prime Minister needs to stop hugging and praying and really start introducing workable plans for the country, which will soon be another Haiti. Start hanging these criminals who are going around the country killing innocent hard-working people in their homes and dumping them in landfills as dead animals. Let's set a precedent, so we don't have to feed these lowlifes in prison. There are many ways we can bring Jamaica back from the brink. Let's start by getting rid of these politicians who are doing nothing for our country.

I am, etc.,
