Half-centuries for Lambert, Baugh as Jamaica draw
published: Tuesday | January 16, 2007

( L - R ) Baugh Jr. and Lambert

GROS ISLET, St. Lucia (CMC):

Tamar Lambert and Carlton Baugh struck half-centuries as the Windward Islands and Jamaica played to a draw on the fourth and final day of their second round Carib Beer Series match at Beausejour Cricket Ground yesterday.

Lambert top scored with 68 and Baugh stroked a cameo even 50 to propel Jamaica to 293 all out in their second innings, after resuming from their overnight 43 for two.

Set 332 to win, Windward Islands reached 69 without loss as Devon Smith, unbeaten on 33, and Andre Fletcher, 28, batted cautiously to avoid any hiccups.

Earlier, Wavell Hinds and Lorenzo Ingram extended their third wicket stand to 84 before being parted.

The left-handed Hinds got 32 and Ingram, 44, but both were dismissed in quick succession as Jamaica slipped to 99 for four.

Lambert then shared two productive stands that kept Jamaica's innings afloat. He first combined with David Bernard (45) in a fifth wicket stand of 94 before adding a further 69 with Baugh.

The 25-year-old Lambert hit nine fours in an innings lasting 168 minutes and 155 balls while Baugh's innings was laced six fours and one six, off 53 balls.

Occasional off-spinner, Liam Sebastien was the best bowler, grabbing three for 37, while Denis George and Deighton Butler took two wickets apiece.
