The Editor, Sir:
Though I am perturbed by the depressing level of crime and violence occurring in my country, Jamaica, I must, however, commend the police force for the work that it has been doing particularly with the reduction of the murder rate in comparison with 2005.
Too many times the force has been accused of inefficiency and tardiness, without giving credit where it is due. The reality is the Force alone cannot solve, altogether, the crime and violence in our country. It takes the cooperation of everyone.
This can come to fruition if we start to cooperate and to 'big up' the police whenever they have made great sacrifices to ensure that law and order are maintained. I wish the deputy commissioner of police well with his suggested survey to be conducted. All the best to the police force and never ease up the fight against crime and violence in Jamaica.
