The 22nd staging of the Seprod/Howard Jackson Relays runs off this morning at Paul Bogle Junior High School in Morant Bay at 9:00 a.m.

The finals of the meet sponsored by Seprod, under their Serge Island brand, and Sports Plus, are set to start at 2:10 p.m.

Secretary of the Jamaica Amateur Athletic Association (JAAA), Garth Gayle, who is the meet director, says he expects "excitement galore" at this year's meet.

Gayle said the meet will be a preview of what to expect at Gibson Relays, which will be held at the National Stadium on February 24, and Penn Relays in Philadelphia (April 26-28).

"It is set to be an exciting gala," he said. "We are expecting a full day of excitement," added Gayle.

TOP FIVE ATHLETES

The top five boys schools from Champs, winners Kingston College (KC), Calabar, Jamaica College (JC), Wolmer's and St. Jago are set to provide top class action.

Though they did not finish in the top five last time, four-time champions St. Jago girls, Vere Technical, Immaculate, The Queen's School, Alpha, and St. Andrew are the top girls schools. Holmwood and Camperdown should also figure prominently among the boys. Host school Morant Bay should also do well as they aim for a couple upsets to entertain their fans.

The events to be contested this year are as follows: 4x150m and 4x300m in all classes, 4x600m classes 1-3 and open distance medley. The club and institution, which will be led by Maximum Velocity Performance (MVP), University of Technology (UTech) and G.C. Foster College, EXED, Racers and Jamalco Track club will be involved in 4x150m, and 4x300m events, while the primary athletes will run the 4x150m, and junior high 4x300m.
