A new European Commission Ambassador has been appointed to Jamaica. He is Marco Mazzocchi Alemanni.
Ambassador Alemanni replaces Ambassador Gerd Jarchow who served in Jamaica for six years.
The Ambassador on Wednesday morning assumed duties as head of the European Commission's delegation to the island.
Ambassador Alemanni is the seventh such dignitary to be posted in Jamaica by the European Commission since 1976 when the Commission opened its offices here.
Prior to his appointment to Jamaica the Ambassador headed several units within the European Commission's Europe Aid Cooperation Office.
