Tivoli, Windalco shoot for Consolation crown
published: Saturday | January 27, 2007

Robert Bailey, Freelance Writer

Tivoli 'A' will meet Windalco in today's feature game in the quarter-finals Jamaica Netball Association (JNA)/ Jamaica National (JN) Open League Consolation Knock-Out competition at the Leila Robinson Courts, starting 6:30 p.m.

Tivoli have won this competition three times before and coach Sylvester Campbell is very confident that of his team's chances of winning a fourth title.

"I am very confident because my team is a very good team. But I know that the Windalco team is a very young and youthful team and this is going to be a very tough challenge for us. But I know that they are going to come at us with all their energy," said Campbell.

Campbell added: "We have been there before and I know what victory tastes like and with this in mind, we will be going all out today for the victory."

Meanwhile, Windalco's last taste of success came two years ago when they won the Open rally title and their coach, Winston Nevers, said he expects a tough game.

"Naturally its going to be a tough game. We all know that Tivoli have one of the top defenders in the country, so we expect them to come out firing at us.

"They have also been in the Senior League and Open League finals for the past three years, so I know that they will be coming all out at us," Nevers explained.

In other games, Ebony Strikers face Tivoli 'B' at 3:00 p.m., Jetsetters 'A' entertain Jamalco at 3:00 p.m., Alexander Strikers oppose Central Links 4:00 p.m., Skibo 'A' tackle Police 'A' at 5:00 p.m., and Molynes United battle Police 'B' at 6:00 p.m.

At 4:30 p.m. Waulgrovians 'A' oppose Jetsetters 'B', while Arnett Gardens tackle Blades United at 5:30 p.m.
