Midweek racing resumes tomorrow
published: Tuesday | January 30, 2007

Midweek racing returns to Caymanas Park for the first time this season with a nine-race programme featuring race number one in the CTL Claiming Series ($200,000-170,000) over the straight five course. Post time is 12:50 p.m.

The main feature for the Abe Issa Memorial Cup (3-y-o and up stakes) over 1200 metres, again had to be abandoned due to insufficient entries. Only two nominations were received at the overnight stage last Saturday afternoon, namely, Gold Cup winner JUST SOME THOUGHTS and MEDICAL REPORT, thus forcing its cancellation.

Ten have been declared for the initial race in the CTL Claiming Series and from all indications, competition should be keen among top contenders WIND JAMMER, CHOO CHOO CHOO, EASTERN LIGHT, MY BOY and RUCKUS to be ridden by Emilio 'Bimbo' Rodriquez, who returns from a two-day suspension.

CHOO CHOO CHOO and the recent winner WIND JAMMER and EASTERN LIGHT should have a keen tussle for favouritism with the Anthony 'Baba' Nunes-trained MY BOY also coming in for a lot of support. These four will more than likely decide the outcome.

The remaining mid-week meets for the first quarter are February 7, February 21 (Ash Wednesday), March 7, March 21 and March 28.
