PREMIER LEAGUE strugglers Naggo Head will hope for a better run of form when they take on Super League team Sporting Central Academy as the Red Stripe Champions Cup kicks off 3:30 today at Brancourt.
Since being promoted to top-flight football this season, things have not gone all that well for the St. Catherine team.
Barring a miraculous comeback, relegation seems likely as Naggo Head find themselves at the bottom of the 12-team table with a mere three points from three draws. However, knockout football is an entirely different prospect and could afford Naggo Head an opportunity to salvage something from their season.
Start as favourites
Despite their recent woes, they should start favourites in today's first leg against Sporting Central, who should not be as challenging as the opposition they face on a weekly basis in the NPL.
Fellow Premier Leaguers Seba United will be another team looking for a boost when they travel to Cotton Tree Field to face the Port Morant All-Stars. Seba have also had a mediocre season so far and they find themselves only three places away from the cellar spot.
In other games today, Montpelier will host St. Ann Bauxite while Duhaney Park will take on Holland United at the Duhaney Park complex. At the Frome field, the home side will hope to secure the first-leg advantage when it hosts former top-flight football representatives Star Cosmos.
Defending champions Tivoli Gardens will not be in action until the start of the next round.
