Guyana beat Leewards

BERBICE, Guyana (CMC):

GUYANA BATTLED hard to register a three-wicket victory over the Leeward Islands midway the post-lunch session on the last day of their Carib Beer Series match at Albion yesterday.

Chasing 237 for victory in the closely contested match, Guyana secured the win at 240 for seven after losing key batsmen Ramnaresh Sarwan and Narsingh Deonarine in the run-chase.

The win moved Guyana up from fifth to fourth position in the standings on 20 points, trailing leaders Barbados on 42, with Trinidad and Tobago (32) lying second and Jamaica (21) third with one round remaining.
