THE EDITOR, Sir:I am writing to inform you of the nuisance that has been created to the residents of the apartment complexes located in the vicinity of the NCB building, formerly the Mutual Life building.
The noise is so deafening that it wakes you from your sleep; it completely blocks out the television and any other sounds. It has completely disrupted the neighbours' and my quality of life. It seems to me that whoever is responsible has complete disregard for his neighbours and had no thought about the noise pollution that these extremely loud helicopters are causing. Is it the responsible action of agood corporate citizen?
Where are the government agencies responsible and who would have approved this in such close proximity to residential buildings, without corresponding requirements as to the type of helicopter, the level at which it can be flown and the resulting noise that should emanate from it? Do we not have the right to live comfortably and peacefully in our own homes?
Since the noise started, I have contacted NCB by telephone and reported the noise and there has been no reduction in the noise levels and the frequency of occurrence.
I am, etc.,
A loyal NCB customer
