The Editor, Sir:With reference to the front-page report in The Gleaner titled "Members padlock church over pastor's transfer" published Monday, February 26, I write in total agreement with the Rev. Omar J. Morrison's letter on the matter published Wednesday, February 28. He said if the facts are as reported, it is a poor reflection on the church's dispute resolution mechanism and problem solving skills etc.
I am calling on the Church today to be more resolute in our thinking. Some of us are too spiritual to be so political in resolving our disputes.
I can understand when a pastor becomes the head, hands and feet of any congregation, that in the wake of a pastoral transfer that congregation will bawl out "no way!"
Salute to the reverend
I salute the Rev. Keith Dallas. His congregation may have loved him even more than his good years of service that a pastoral transfer would hit them like an unexpected bomb falling from the sky. But if the facts are as reported, to stage a demonstration at the church that even led to the suspension of the Sunday morning service is like suspending a Sunday morning service for a Sunday funeral.
It is my observation from almost 28 years in ministry as an evangelist and pastor, that if there is one thing the body of Christ is ignorant of, it is Satan's devices.
Satan has a field day in most churches today. Why? In most cases he is totally unopposed because the leadership as well as the people, do not recognise him for who he is or what he is doing.
You see the key to solving problems is knowing how to handle them. In John 14:14, Jesus says: "if ye shall ask anything in my name I will do it."
We have been given the power of attorney to use Jesus' name. We have the right to use his name to activate the word of God in life situations. As a Church, we cannot afford to become the joke of the world when we should be praying, fasting and pulling down the strongholds of the enemy over this nation. We cannot padlock our churches when the enemy of our souls is having a field day.
I am, etc.,
REV. PRINCE MORRIS
