POLICE NATIONAL moved one step closer to qualifying for a place in the National Premier League play-offs with a 3-0 victory over Santos in the Kingston and St. Andrew Football Association (KSAFA)/Jamaica National (JN) Super League at the Bell Chung Oval yesterday.

Police National lead the standings with 39 points - six more than second-place Meadhaven United, who registered a 1-0 victory over Maverley/Hughenden (16).

In other games, Cavalier (22) whipped Greenwich Town (13) 5-0. And the Jamaica Defence Force (30) played to a 0-0 draw with Constant Spring (17).

Outplayed the visitors

At Winchester Park, Jermaine Rowe scored a brace for Cavalier, who outplayed the visitors throughout game.

Rowe opened the scoring in the second minute with a spectacular 30-yard shot against the run of play.

Twenty minutes later, Rowe completed his brace when he dribbled his way past three Greenwich Town defenders to fire home from point-blank range.

Ten minutes after half-time, national Under-20 representative Alanzo Adlam scored Cavalier's third goal when he lobbed the ball over the head of goalkeeper Kamberi Dixon. Substitute Orlando Dixon in the 62nd and Barrington McCalla in the 85th minute were the other goalscorers for Cavalier.

Rudolph Speid, player/coach of Cavalier, said he was pleased with his team's performance and is looking forward to next season.

"The league looks doubtful to win ... so this is the new Cavalier," said Speid.

"We have brought in a lot of young players ... so we are now looking towards the future for the rest of the season," said Speid.
