Press Association off to Korean peace conference

A delegation from the Press Association of Jamaica (PAJ) has left for Asia to participate in a special conference focused on 'Peace and Reconciliation of the Korean Peninsula'.

Desmond Richards, president of the PAJ, second vice-president Hylton Dennis and senior journalist Glenroy Sinclair of The Gleaner Company Ltd., will participate in the conference from March 12 to 16.

Declaration of Resolutions

The first two days of the conference will be held in Seoul, South Korea, followed by two days in Mount Keumgang, North Korea, at which a 'Signing and Declaration of Resolutions' will bring the event to a close. On the final day of their visit, the Jamaican delegation will join in a tour of the Gaesung International Economic Free Zone in South Korea.

The four-day 'Korean Peace Conference', organised jointly by the Journalists' Association of Korea and the International Federation of Journalists, has a line-up of presenters including DaeJung Kim, former president, The Republic of Korea; Jae-Jong Lee, minister in the Ministry of Unification; Il-Young Chung, president, Journalists' Association of Korea; Tong Ki Woo, president, Yeung Nam University; and Chris Warren, president, International Federation of Journalists.

The PAJ will also deliver a country presentation at the special conference.
