Anthony Foster, Freelance WriterMANCHESTER HIGH's Sha-Ann Holness was in impressive form at yesterday's Lucozade/G.C. Foster Classic, a 'Last Chance' qualifying meet for Boys and Girls Champs, which was held at the school's ground.
Holness, who is aiming for her first Champs title, won the girls Class Four 70m hurdles in an impressive 10.81 seconds ahead of Holmwood's Oshine Erskin (10.85) and St. Jago's Chrisdale McCarthy (11.01).
In the 80m hurdles, St. Jago's Annakay James (12.01) beat Lanice Hall of Vere (12.05).
Janelle Gordon of Wolmer's (14.17) beat Jillisa Grant of Vere (14.28) in the girls Class Two 100m hurdles, while Carlakay Mills of Vere (14.28) was the top schoolgirl in the Class One event, which was won by Toniann D'Oyley (14.17), a senior athlete who represented High Performance Training Centre (HPTC).
In the boys events, Kingston College's pair of Keiron Stewart (13.96) and Kimarley Henry (14.42) won the boys Class One and Two 110m hurdles, beating the Calabar pair of Warren Weir (14.13) and Jerome Myers (14.45), respectively.
Calabar's Travis Drummond (14.09) took the Class Three 100m low hurdles event ahead of Kevaughn Allen of Wolmer's (14.26).
Schillonie Calvert of Holmwood won the women's 100m Open event in 11.50 ahead of UTech/MVP's Shelly-Ann Fraser (11.53) and Mileydis Lazo of Cuba (11.79) while Gavin James of UTech/MVP (10.60) took the men's event ahead of G.C. Foster College's Kawayne Fisher (10.60).
Tashauna Willock of St. Jago (59.96) beat Manchester High's Judith Riley (60.11) in the girls' 400m hurdles Open, while Junior Hines of Cayman (53.91) won the men's equivalent.
Ana Achi Pena (2:09.06) of Cuba beat Kena Haven of Holmwood (2:09.89) and Edwin Allen's Shakeeri Cole (2:13.15) in the women's 800m Open.
Holmwood's Petrene Plummer (10:43.89) took the 3,000m Open ahead of her teammate, Amoy Bailey (10:51.02), while Wainard Talbert of Windalco (16:12.70) took the men's 5,000m Open event.
Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Olivia McKoy threw 56.42m to beat Angella Graham of G.C. Foster College (37.26m) for the javelin title.
Nicholas Gordon of Calabar (7.38m) beat KC's Tarik Batcherlor (6.95m) in the boys' Class One long jump while Jermaine Jackson of MVP (7.63m) beat Herbert McGregor of Pro Launch (7.56m) for the men's title.
