Campbell back on track
published: Wednesday | March 14, 2007

Veronica Campbell ... ready to return to action. - file

Anthony Foster, Freelance Writer

OLYMPIC 200M champion VeronicaCampbell is training well in Arkansas.

Campbell's mentor, Neville Myton, told The Gleaner yesterday that the athlete, who was in the island over the weekend "is healthy".

"She is training very well in Arkansas," Myton, an Olympian said.

Campbell, who missed most of last season because of an injury she picked up on June 11, 2006, at a meeting in Gateshead, England, is set to run her first individual race at the Jamaica International Invitational on May 5.

Running in may

"She will run at the May 5 meet in Jamaica, but I am not sure what event she will run," Myton, the national junior 800m record holder, said. Before that, however, the former World Junior double sprint gold medallist is scheduled to compete in the 4x400m relay for an unspecified team at the Arizona Outdoor Classic event, which takes place March 23-24.

"There is a 50/50 chance she might run some relays at the end of the month," Myton said.

The Gleaner has also learned that Campbell and long-time boyfriend Omar Brown, the Commonwealth Games 200m champion, are to get married on November 3.
