Nodley Wright, Freelance WriterDEFENDING CHAMPIONS Waterhouse continued their unimpressive run in the third round of the Wray and Nephew National Premier League when they played to an unattractive goalless draw with seventh-placed Village United at the Elliston Wakeland Centre.
On Sunday, Waterhouse were beaten 1-0 at home by bottom-placed Naggo Head. In their first game of the round they struggled to a 1-1 draw with Seba United. Coach Barrington Gaynor who got the assurance from the team's management that he would be at the club at least until the end of the season, felt the result was a reasonable one.
"It was adverse conditions and considering the fact that we lost the last game at home to a team at the bottom of the table this is an improved result.
"We should have won because we got at least five clear goal scoring opportunities and failed to finish but one point is better than none," he said.
Just about 80 spectators turned out for yesterday's mid-week fixture and the fans who stayed away did not miss much.
Both teams misfired on a soggy field. Everette Mullings of Village United came closet to scoring when his grounder in the second half clipped the diving Marurice Evans" hands and struck the right upright. Narada Brown had no less than three chances for Waterhouse but could not capitalise.
