PNP in election mode
published: Friday | March 23, 2007

The clearest indication to date that the governing People's National Party (PNP) is now in election mode came yesterday in a release from the party inviting all local and central government candidates to a meeting on Saturday to discuss election preparedness.

General elections are constitutionally due by October this year.

Beginning at 10:00 a.m., at the Jamaica Conference Centre, downtown Kingston, the party will discuss the progress of the enumeration exercise and canvasses.

On Sunday, the PNP will hold its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting at the same venue.

President's charge

The high point of the meeting will be the charge by party president, Portia Simpson Miller to the candidates and the NEC.

Campaign director for the PNP, Dr. Paul Robertson, will also make a presentation on the organisational status of the party.
