GIFFORD WILMOT carded an even-par 72 to win the Jamaica Golf Association (JGA) development series event at SuperClubs Golf and Country Club in Runaway Bay last weekend.

Wilmot held off the challenges of John O'Donohue (75) and Sean Morris (77) to win the men's category of the Jamaica Golf Association's (JGA) second development series event of the year.

Fabian Campbell, winner of the first event of the series, placed fourth with a 78.

"I'm familiar with the course, so I knew I'd play well today," said Wilmot. "The weather was a concern for me but it held out and so did I," he said after collecting his trophy.

Lincoln Williams took the men's senior category with an 82 and Maggie Lyn, who was the lone Ladies entrant, shot an 88 playing off the white tees with the Super Seniors.

Eugene Chen took the Super Senior category (81) while JGA president Gordon Hutchinson (83) was back in fine form after missing the first event.

The JGA Development Series comprises 10 tournaments that award contestants points which contribute to their inclusion in the national squad. The next event on the calendar is scheduled for the Easter Weekend.

Teams to the Caribbean Amateur Golf Championship (CAGC), which will be held in the Dominican Republic in August, will be selected based on Order of Merit and performances at the national trials.
