The proclamation was made yesterday at a commemorative ceremony held at King's House, St. Andrew.

Senator Norman Grant, president of the Jamaica Agricultural Society described the Governor-General's proclamation as a clear endorsement of the work of the organisation and farmers over the years.

He said Farmers' Month was first introduced 24 years ago as a means of recognising the contribution of the nation's farmers to national development.
