  • MONTEGO BAY, St James:

    The Education Transformation team hopes to complete regional consultations on the National School Board Association (NSBA) soon for the body to be launched by the end of May.

    "We are hoping and working toward probably a soft launch down in May sometime, toward the end of May, but we will be guided by the board chairmen as we meet them throughout the island," said communications director with the Education Transformation Team, Sharon Wolfe.

    Mrs. Wolfe was speaking to JIS at last Monday's consultation, held at the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort in Montego Bay, where the regional executive for the Ministry of Education and Youth's region four was formed.

  • MAY DAY DISTRICT, Manchester

    The body of a man who the police say was last week reported missing was on Tuesday found in bushes in Myersville district.

    The body has been identified as that of 41-year-old Leford Breary, auto salesman of May Day district, Manchester. The decomposing body was found about 10:00 a.m.

    The police have theorised that Breary was kidnapped.

  • LINSTEAD, St Catherine

    A police sergeant was hospitalised after a vehicular accident in Linstead earlier this week. He is Detective Sergeant Orville Smith of the Linstead Police Station.

    Reports are that, about 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, the policeman, who is the crime officer for the Linstead Police Station, was driving a private motor car when, on reaching a section of the Linstead main road, the car developed mechanical defects. The lawman lost control of the vehicle near the entrance leading to the Dinthill High School and then collided with a truck, severely injuring himself.

  • FALMOUTH, Trelawny

    John Holt, Leroy Sibbles, Medikal and Teflon allbacked by SANE Band are among those who will headline the stage show segment of the Trelawny Yam Festival to be held Easter Monday, April 9, at the Hague Showground, starting at 8:00 p.m.

    For the contemporary crowd, Teflon, Etana, Little Hero, Rated R and Iyah Blaze should keep the younger audience blazing. These acts will be complemented by some top local acts.

  • HALF-WAY TREE, St Andrew

    The National Works Agency is advising motorists that the section of Eastwood Park Road between Molynes Road and North Odeon Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic from 6:00 a.m. today until midnight Monday, April 9. Closure of the roadway is to facilitate the connection of the storm water drains located at the Half-Way Tree Transportation Centre to the main drain along Eastwood Park Road.

    Th route for motorists travelling towards Red Hills/Constant Spring roads from Eastward Park Road is left onto Molynes Road, right onto Sandringham Avenue, right onto Westminister Road, and left onto Eastwood Park Road.
