Reno, Seba in stalemate
published: Thursday | April 19, 2007

WESTERN BUREAU:

MID-SEASON CHAMPIONS Reno and their western Jamaica counterparts, Seba United, failed in their respective objectives yesterday when they battled to a 1-1 draw in their NPL fixture at the Catherine Hall stadium.

The Seba United team, which is hunting crucial points to move away from the relegation zone, took the lead through Ricardo Geddes but Reno, who are seeking to earn qualification for the Caribbean Club Championship, found the equaliser through Nyron Davis.

"I thought we controlled the game beautifully today but unfortunately we gave up a soft goal," said Seba's Peruvian coach, Danielo Barrigga, whose team stays in 10th place on 30 points. "Our plan was to take all three points today but it just never happened for us."

Reno's coach, Wendell Downswell, whose team stays in third place on 53 points, expressed much disappointment with the lack of intensity of his players, which he believed undermined their overall performance.

"The players failed to measure up to what we were expecting from them as the expected intensity was missing," said Downswell.
