Wrong men abducted by gunmen and beaten
published: Wednesday | May 9, 2007

Several men, including the son of Assistant Commissioner of Police, Reggie Grant, narrowly escaped death yesterday afternoon, after they were abducted by a group of gunmen who marched them to nearby Wynter's Pen in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, where they were beaten and released.

Reports are that they were released after a group of women arrived at the scene, looked at the men then told the gunmen that "it was not them". The men - Ian Brown, 26; Michael Williams, Dwaine Wright, Dwight Ludlow 20; a 16-year-old juvenile and Joe Quin Grant, also 20 - were playing dominoes along Fairview Crescent, off St. John's Road, Spanish Town, when a group of armed men took them at gunpoint to a section of Wynter's Pen. The men were robbed of cellular phones, cash and other personal items.

"Based on what I have heard, something happened in Wynter's Pen and they (gunmen) are looking for the persons responsible. It was only after a group of women shouted out 'No! It is not them', before they were released," Assistant Commissioner Grant disclosed to The Gleaner last night.
