published: Monday | May 14, 2007

Keisha Shakespeare-Blackmore, Staff Reporter

Samantha and John were together for eight years, had two children, and were engaged but the relationship ended messily.

At the time (five years ago) they were not living together because of financial constraints. After a while the relationship became more difficult each year. John went missing for days and neither Samantha nor the children knew where he was, but his relatives knew his whereabouts. Things went from bad to worse, One day Samantha went through his phone, and saw that several numbers were dialled regularly. "I decided to call them and finally I hit the jack- pot. I spoke with a woman who told me that they (John and herself) weren't just in a relationship but were living together. Imagine my surprise," said Samantha.

But subsequently, whenever she tried ending the relationship, he'd assure her that he loved her and wanted to work it out. When she asked him if he was cheating, he asked, "Do you want me to cheat on you?"

"In my mind I thought he probably still loved me. I must admit I continued being sexually active with him. After a while things went from bad to worse. One day Samantha went through his phone, and saw that several numbers were dialled regularly.
