MAS CAMP transformed into a sea of revellers who turned out to set the pace for upcoming parties at the staging of the Red Stripe Red Summer launch party on Saturday.
The party, the first of a series of sizzling summer events, got off to an early start, attracting thousands partygoers.
Giving just a taste of what is in store for patrons at the upcoming events, Red Stripe also showcased previously launched parties. The very popular and highly supported Beer Vibes event, it was announced, was back after being absent for a number of years, and would take place this July.
Renaissance, Area Code and Bloodline carried the vibe with outstanding sets. Area Code was in superb form with DJ's Geldin, Kevin and Too Sweet playing the 'After dark' rhythm featuring Reason by Mavado. This was followed by another big one from Mavado 'Mr. Palmer', which elicited uncontrollable shouts and screams from the jumping crowd.
Unleashing new music
Arguably, some of the best selections came from Renaissance disco. With Jazzy T and Delano at the helm, they had a few surprises for the large crowd. Leftside's This Is Why It Hot made guests go into a near frenzy. They turned the beat around, bringing in some soca with Machel Montano's Dead Or Alive and then moved it into hip hop with Busta Rhymes' 'Put your hands where my eyes can see'.
ZJ Liquid was up to the task of unleashing new music on the crowd. He played the 'Bluetooth' and 'Artillery' rhythms. The highlight of his set, however, was a special from Munga Honourable saying, "Yeah, yeah, Don Corleone roll up inna the red Hummer, straight to red summer ... Mas Camp don't play around". This was just enough to elevate the party vibe to all-time high.
Not to be left out, Bloodline came and gave all it had, dropping the most recent hit of Busy Signal, These Are The Days, before going into Vybz Kartel's Wine Pon Him. It was the impromptu performance by Munga Honourable, who was called to the stage by DJ Bunco, which brought the night to a close at minutes to five. Munga took to the stage and performed snippets from each of his songs.
The crowd reluctantly made their way to the exit after having their fill of Red Stripe and fun.
