Rain denies Bradshaw a century
published: Tuesday | May 22, 2007

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC):

Rain denied retired West Indies batsman Ian Bradshaw the chance of scoring 100 Sunday in the Barbados Division One cricket competition.

The left-handed Bradshaw was 96 not out overnight for Wanderers against St. Catherine but rain prevented any play on the last day at the Wanderers Ground and the game ended in a draw.

At the end of last month's World Cup, the 29-year-old Bradshaw announced that he is quitting international cricket.

At Black Rock, Kirk Gibson slammed 85 off 55 balls and national batsman Kurt Wilkinson hit 49 to lead Carlton to an eight-wicket win over BCL.

Promising West Indies youth pacer Kemar Roach bagged six for 59 off 15 overs at the Trents Ground to reduce visiting UWI to 214 all out, and his side Maple - set 201 to win - reached 16 without loss when rain aborted the game as a draw.

At Weymouth, National youth player Shamar Cooke added six to his overnight score to reach 109 in the Barbados Youth Team's 416 for six declared against Police. He then picked up two for 12 off 10 overs with his off spin as Police scored 187 for five in a drawn game.

At Banks Brewery, veteran left-arm spinner Winston Reid (3-44) and Carlos Brathwaite (3-47) were the chief wicket-takers for Banks as Pickwick posted to 172 for seven declared in their second innings.

Set 318 to win, Banks finished on 247 for six, with Brathwaite hitting an undefeated 106, with 13 fours, against spinner Ryan Arthur (3-35).
