Fraser nets big winner
published: Tuesday | May 22, 2007

MIAMI Florida, Ohio (CMC):

Jamaican attacking mid-fielder Sean Fraser netted his first United Soccer League (USL) first division goal this season while helping Miami FC defeat the Atlanta Silverbacks 2-1 at the Orange Bowl on Sunday.

Fraser smashed in a spectacular winning goal in the second half that completed a second home win for Miami in three days.

Dan Antoniuk had given visiting Atlanta an early lead, but the Brazilian 1994 World Cup winning star Zinho evened the game in the 50th minute and Fraser struck the winner 11 minutes later.

With the game locked at 1-1, Miami, who had beaten Minnesota Thunder 1-0 - on a Zinho goal - on Friday night, snatched the winner with a marvellous build-up in the 61st minute. Gonzalez sent a pass forward to the over-lapping Haitian Stephane Guillaume, who whipped a firm cross inside that Fraser met with a sliding effort to beat Atlanta's goalkeeper Felipe Quintero and finish a fantastic build-up.

There was another Caribbean scorer on the weekend as Guyanese rookie Nigel Codrington struck his third goal in two matches and helped Cleveland City Stars beat New Hampshire Phantoms 3-2 in their USL Second Division match on Saturday.

Adam Moffat struck a last-minute winner for home team Cleveland to snatch a thrilling victory at Kenzler Stadium.
