Police register outright victory

Police defeated Kingston & St. Andrew by nine wickets to secure the weekend's only outright victory in the Red Stripe Championship, as rain wreaked havoc in all the other matches across the island.

With the victory, Police opened a four-point lead atop the 11-team standings after three rounds, with 16 points.

Other teams

St. Ann and Hanover, who both pocketed first innings points against Portland and St. Catherine Parish, respectively, are next with 12 points each.

St. James (seven), Kingston & St. Andrew (six), Portland (four), St. Mary (three), St. Catherine Parish (three), Boys' Town (two), Clarendon (two) and St. Thomas (one) are the other teams.

At Elletson Road: Kingston & St. Andrew were no match for the lawmen.

Batting first, Kingston & St. Andrew were dismissed for 166 with Gary Pink getting a top score of 89 against Sheldon Cottrell (5-33).

Police, led by Ricardo Howe's 95 and Renford Pinnock Jr's 50, made 269. Keyon Gayle took 6-54.

Blown away

Faced with a deficit of 103, Kingston & St. Andrew were blown away for 166. Keyon Gayle led the way with 54 against Gavin James (4-50).

Set 46 to win, Police raced to 48-1.

At Elgin Town: Hanover took first innings points from St. Catherine Parish.

Hanover scored 193 (Alan Samuels 73, Lindley Tracey 45; Colin Buchanan 4-65) and 20-3; St. Catherine 138 (Kirk Gordon 36; Damion Distin 5-47).

At St. Ann Bauxite: St. Ann beat Portland on first innings.

St. Ann 129 (Victory Barracks 41, Xavier Marshall 38; Darren Grey 5-34) and 2-1; Portland 121 (Christopher Hall 32; Marlon Johnson 4-22).

At Jamalco Sports Club: Clarendon and Boys' Town ended in a no-result.

Clarendon scored 71 with Damion Allen 3-3, Phillip Keating 3-16 and Carol Perry 3-30 taking most wickets.

Boys' Town were struggling on 16 for four when rain stopped play.

At Jarrett Park: No play was possible in the match between St. James and St. Mary due to heavy rainfall on the weekend.
