The Editor, Sir:
I am deeply disgruntled with the way in which some of our politicians take us Jamaicans for idiots. Jamaicans need to wake up and take the blindfolds from their eyes and see that our politicians are taking us for a devastating ride.
The extent to which some of them have gone to trick us is ridiculous, to say the least.
I am a young, educated Jamaican who is tired of their lies, promises, gimmicks and theatrics. What do they take us for, 'poppy-shows'? I have seen what dirty, corrupt politics has done to my parents' generation and the generation before them.
They have been robbed of so many freedoms and liberties that they fail to see their mental enslavement. They have been so warped by the games and schemes which have pervaded our politics in this country that they cannot differentiate between truth and falsity.
I will not be voting in this election. I do not see what to vote for. I am so sick and tired of their theatrics.
They hurt and deprive the citizens of this country of so much and they continue to do it despite the consequences. When are we as a people going to wake up and take a stand for accountability, transparency, good governance, good representation and integrity? I am not writing off my country, I am just writing off the people who run it. I wish a new generationof politicians would stand up and be counted.
I am, etc.,
