Ginger Ridge 'heroes' praised

Ginger Ridge won the Jamaica Broilers OldHarbour Primary School Basketball League when they defeated Good Hope 11-10 in a nail-biting finish last Friday at the Marlie Mount Primary School.

"We are going home as heroes," said Allen, who was ecstatic that his school had also that day picked up the trophy as the winners of the INSPORTS-organised Under-12 netball competition from among 24 participating primary, all-age and junior high schools in St. Catherine.

Giovani Gordon, captain of Ginger Ridge, came in for special mention from the organisers, while Damar Thomas and Kedisha Cardoza, both of Good Hope, were recognised as being among the top players of the season.

Cardoza also walked away with the Most Valuable Player trophy.

Second place went to Good Hope Primary while Bellas Gate Primary came in third and Marlie Mount Primary were fourth.

Marlie Mount also received the trophy as the Most Disciplined Team, under the captaincy of Yogeros Smith.

In addition to winning the Jamaica Broilers Trophies, Ginger Ridge All-Age and Good Hope Primary were also presented with cash prizes by the company.
