Caribbean Fashionweek 2007 had all the trappings of a fashion extravaganza. As is the norm, it showcased the artistry and creativity of upcoming and established designers; what the imagination can do with fabric.

However, there were a few designs that stood out as ready-to-wear; able to tread a straight path from the runway to your wardrobe. Many women readily remarked, "I like that; I would wear it."

Trinidadian Peter Elias was one such designer. His pieces portrayed his signature style of focusing on the fit of the clothing and how they complemented the female form.

Twenty-four year-old Gavin Douglas also fell into this category. His collection included urban with a couture twist.

Wayne Smith's designs stood out in his use of shades, while Romanian designer Catalin Botezatu who trained under Versace, showed his love for adorning the female body.

Bajan designer Wayne Smith and his 'Island Spice' collection of evening dresses showcased his skill of blending colours.
