Cable and Wireless Jamaica (CWJ) donates $1.3 million to reading competition, charities

The Cable and Wireless Jamaica (CWJ) Foundation last week made donations totalling more than $1.3 million to five organisations.

The Jamaica Library Service received $1 million for its National Reading Competition making this the fourthconsecutive year that the CWJF will be a major sponsor of this initiative which is opened to individuals ranging from six years to adulthood and aims to promote literacy and the care of books.

The foundation also gave $200,000 to the Dare to Care home for children living with HIV/AIDS, $30,000 to the Missionaries of the Poor, $36,000 to HOPE Worldwide Jamaica and $70,000 to the Mustard Seed Communities.

These contributions were funded by the CWJF's employee volunteers through monthly salary deductions with matching contributions from CWJ.
