EDITORIAL - A campus open to more
The University of the West Indies (UWI), along with the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the various regional cricket teams, has long been one of three tangible products of much talked-about Caribbean integration which has had substantial government support.

Replacing the postman

As I have told you before, I lived in Four Paths, a village four miles west of May Pen, Clarendon, when I was a child. As small as it was, Four Paths was well served by public facilities. There was a police station, an elementary school, a railway station and it even had a public water supply. (Neita)

Whither manufacturing?

The Editor, Sir: Many persons are of the opinion that we should import almost everything, because Jamaica is not in a position to manufacture anything.

Issue: Who should pay for school fees?

I am most annoyed with the proclamation of abolishing secondary school tuition when the necessary resources needed to drive the education system are not in place. Do these politicians believe that all Jamaicans are 'dunces' and 'idiots' ...
