Teenage pregnancy
published: Tuesday | July 17, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

The figures published in The Gleaner on teenage pregnancy in St. Thomas were incorrect. The totals of 36 for under 15s and 1,228 for 15 to 19 for the period of 2005 are wrong. It should be corrected to read as total pregnancy occurance in the public health sector as 1,256 in 2005. Total pregnancy for under 19s (teenage pregnancy) should read as 375.

There is not much difference in the pregnancy occurrences in St. Thomas when compared to other parishes.

I am, etc.,

Dr. R. NARAYANASHASTRY
