Polo final at Drax Hall

The final of the Hi-Pro/ICWI sponsored high goal family polo tournament is on today with the Chin No. 1 team opposing the Chin No. 2 team at the St. Ann Polo Club, Drax Hall, starting at 3.30 p.m. Both teams scored hard fought semi-final wins on Thursday to advance to the final.

The Chin No. 2 team clipped the Wates 11-10 with four goals from John G. Byles, three from Shane Chin, two from Craig Russell and one from Paul Chin. For the losers, Alexander Melville led the way with five goals and Sam Wates three, Ricky and Mark Wates one each. In the second semi-final, the Chin No. 1 team nosed out the Lalors 10-9 in overtime.

Both teams were locked at 6-6 at the end of regular time, but Leslie Ann Fong-Yee with five goals and Andy Vernon (4) enabled the Chins to squeeze home. For the losers, the Argentinean Jorge Donovan scored seven times.
