Guardsman upgrades 'track and trace' technology
published: Friday | August 3, 2007

- Contributed

Security company Guardsman Group has introduced a new tracking system that allows its guards to issue receipts to clients on spot, using a hand-held wireless device that uploads information directly to its servers.

The device allows the company to pinpoint tabs on "any cash bag, anywhere in their system within minutes."

The hand-held computers equipped with scanners operate on both GPRS and Bluetooth technology, and uses 128-bit encryption for data security.

"In order to switch to a completely electronic collection procedure we have been using both the scanners and the paperwork in order to fine-tune the software for our specific needs," said a company release quoting Managing Director Craig Morrison.

"We are now approaching the stage where in the next few months we will be phasing out the old receipts."
