Dozen Masters teams to battle honours

The 15th renewal of the Kirkvine Sports Club Masters League Football Extravaganza will be held on Monday, Independence Day, at Kirkvine in Manchester

Twelve teams from Kingston and St. Andrew Football Association (KSAFA), central and western Jamaica, will be taking part in this year's competition, including defending champions Hanover Masters, who will be led by former Jamaica international, Paul 'Tegat' Davis. They have won the competition for the past three years.

The four teams that will be representing Kingston and St. Andrew/are Pelicans, Nautica, St. George's and Harbour View.

The western teams will be represented by Hanover, Violet Tourers, Falmouth and Infernal. And Vere, Kirkvine, Clarendon Eagles, and Los Perfectos will carry the colours for the central confederation.

The matches will be played over a 40-minute period, with 20 minutes perhalf. The winner of the competition will take home the champions trophy and there will also be prizes including the Most Valuable Player (MVP), best goalkeeper, best defender and best midfielder.

Meanwhile, the NCB Capital Markets/Kingston and St. Andrew Football Masters Football League (KSAMLA) competition continues on Wednesday with six matches.

At 6:00 p.m., Lion King oppose Telecom Strikers in the opening match of a double header, the Jamaica Defence Force will face Maxfield at 7:30 p.m in the feature.

At Barbican, Shortwood tackle Washington Strikers at 6:00 p.m. and Rae Town await Barbican at 7:30 p.m. Christian Ambassadors battle Real Mona at Buttercup Park at 7:00 p.m. and Thunderbolts face MV. Exodus at Prison Oval at 7:00 p.m.
