published: Wednesday | August 15, 2007

Cabinet has approved three multimillion-dollar contracts for the construction of two new schools and to provide more classrooms and administrative facilities at another institution.

SWC Woodwork and Construction Limited received a contract worth more than $333.6 million to construct a new high school in Discovery Bay, St. Ann, which will accommodate 1,200 students.

Information Minister, Donald Buchanan reported at yesterday's last post-Cabinet press briefing, before the August 27 general election, that work on the project would begin this month and was scheduled for completion by December, next year.

The school is being built under the School Expansion Programme undertaken by the Ministry of Education and Youth.
