Cops injured in crash
published: Monday | August 20, 2007

A traffic accident along the Portmore leg of Highway 2000 has left two police officers in hospital.

Though sketchy on details, the Constabulary Communication Network revealed that the accident occurred shortly after 9:00 a.m. yesterday. The occupants of the vehicle, Inspector Veronica Gilzene and a district constable identified only as 'Twenty', were injured and taken to hospital. Both officers are attached to the Harbour View Police Station.

The inspector's injuries are not believed to be as serious as those of her counterpart, who has reportedly been admitted in stable condition at the Kingston Public Hospital.

An officer from the Waterford police told The Gleaner that they were unable to gather much information as "the driver of the vehicle was not in a state to give us much information and when we arrived on the scene, the injured persons had already been taken to hospital".
