Voters electnew MP in Nevis

CHARLESTOWN, Nevis (CMC):

Voters on this small Caribbean island were casting ballots yesterday to elect a new member to the St. Kitts-Nevis National Assembly following the death of the Leader of the Opposition Malcolm Guishard in June.

Supervisor of Elections Leroy Benjamin said two persons had been nominated to contest the elections.

He said Hensley Daniel, the deputy premier in the Nevis Island Administration, will represent the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP), while the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) will be representedin the by-election by Attorney Mark Brantley, who is also a nominated member in the Nevis Island Assembly.

Benjamin said that 4,758 persons were eligible to cast ballots at nine polling stations in the Electoral District Nevis.
