THE EDITOR, Sir:
As an avid reader of your newspaper and one who uses it to determine which party I would vote for, I am impressed by the fair-mindedness of our Prime Minister who at all times demonstrates her eagerness to make those who are less fortunate comfortable.
I say this against the background that one of our main problems in Jamaica today is the inability of some to cope with the harsh and complex climate we are trying to survive under.
I get the impression that the JLP only cares about balancing the books and creating wealth for those who understand how to survive under the complex economic conditions, as was evident up to 1989, and left us in a situation that only the more affluent could survive.
Bruce Golding is a technocrat whose training allows him to be concerned about figures and statistics and not the real problem a poor housewife or farmer faces.
Portia, on the other hand, seems to be concerned about what we face every day and has the will to ensure these problems are eradicated from us once and for all.
As the Prime Minister and the manifesto of the PNP articulate correctly, these areas need urgent attention. You are on the right track, PM. Balance lives before books can be balanced.
I am, etc.,
