A plea for political minorities
Congratulations to the Honourable Bruce Golding and the Jamaica Labour Party for their victory in the general election which marked the end of the 18-year rule of socialism in Jamaica.
On the matter of the electoral procedure in general, I found no fault except in the case of the television personnel and political analysts who I believe expressed their political bias excessively to the extent that it could be considered as unprofessional behaviour.

Why Portia failed
As a nation, the majority of Jamaicans are black, poor and depressed. We have never been organised for the upliftment of the majority.
The general election is now over with a Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) victory at the polls after 18 years in the wilderness.
However, the JLP, branded as the 'Big Man Party', is not about providing change to the status of the poor.
As a black woman from humble abode and the working class, Portia wanted to free the poor depressed blacks from the oppressed, as in the same manner Bob Marley, Mandela, Martin Luther King, gave the blacks hope and inspiration.

Lack of service
After years as a long-suffering Cable and Wireless customer, I was happy to sign up for the service promised by new cable/phone/Internet provider, Flow.
Yes, I was going to pay more for the bundle of services I selected, but that cost factor was a small price to pay for the reliability, speed and convenience being offered. Today, I am cursing myself for having bought into the hype and am now looking to slink back to the evil I knew, with my tail between my legs.
I have had no service since the passage of Hurricane Dean. While I can manage without cable, as a professional who works from home, my functionability has been seriously hampered by the lack of a telephone and Internet service.
Power was returned to my neighbourhood from as early as August 29. Well a month later, Flow has not seen it fit to re-establish service to myself and others.
