Constituency plan must involve 'locals'
published: Friday | September 28, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

I want to use this medium to applaud the Prime Minister Bruce Golding on his move to have Members of Parliament submitting a development plan for their constituencies.

I really love the move since it will allow more transparency and accountability.

However, I would want these plans to be published so that all Jamaicans could have free access to them at their local post offices and on the Internet for those overseas.

This, I think, will facilitate more and better dialogue between MPs and the people they represent.

There is no doubt in my mind that for us to move forward as a nation the government must seek the support of all Jamaicans and this is one of the best ways to get the 'local man' involved in the business of nation building.

I am, etc.,
